You can just spread dry molasses all over your yard and the fire ants will leave as they don’t like molasses! Better than spraying poison into the ground.

I live in Central Texas and we also have fire ants. I have found them in my raised beds and have found that feeding them CORN MEAL will kill them. It may take a few applications, but they will come out and take it down into their mound and eat it. They cannot digest the corn meal and can't digest any other food because the corn meal blocks their digestive system. They will eventually die off along with the queen. Completely organic and won't harm your garden plants.

When you start at the top the queen or queens will escape from the bottom by way of escape tunnels. If you would shove that wand to the bottom and drench from bottom to top you could stop a lot of come backs.

If you take a shovel and dig out the mound to expose the interior of the nest then fill it with a flammable liquid and ignite it, that'll destroy the colony; much more fun and just as a effective :D

Had to laugh at the title: ''How to kill fire ants - dead!'' - how else would you kill something other than dead. The reason I laughed, is here in the UK, there was an advert on TV for Domestos Household Bleach...and they said ''kills all known germs: dead''. Yes I thought, it would have to kill them that way. There's no other way for something to be killed. How can you kill something temporarily, or only for a few mins? LOL. Have a good 'un. Dawg.

How many pieces of paper will you need for a 1/2 acre? You kill one mound, they make another a few feet over. A company comes over and sprays my entire lawn every 3 months with a guarantee that if I even see a single fire ant mound, they'll come back as often as it takes, during that time, to take care of the problem. And if you have pets, it covers fleas and ticks as well. I've had them for 9 months so far, and only called them back once for fire ants. They also spray around windows and doors on the outside. And although they'll take care of the inside as well, I can handle that myself. I know everything is bigger in Texas, but these fire ants in South Florida are no slouch either. LOL.

Have you tried diatomaceus earth? This kills any crawling insects including fleas, spiders, etc.. Don't put ON flowers and the such bc it'll kill bees. You don't want to kill bees or praying mantis and the such. There's 2 varieties so look the bag over. Neither is harmful to humans or animals. Just watch the drift of the wind or breeze, you don't wasn't too inhale or get it in your eyes! You can ACTUALLY drink the food grade if you wanted to...but, it does kill the ants and bugs!

Need to get rid of fire ants? DO NOT make the chemical industry richer! You don't have to pollute the groundwater! Boil water and pour it on them, more than one treatment may be needed. Sure, the grass roots will die. But many poisons also kill grass roots. It will grow back after the boiling water! Save yourself money and use boiling water ONLY!

I have known 2 men ( grown men) that had a heart attack in the field working and were killed by fire ants. They went into their noses and mouth and stung them to death. I live in central Texas just west of Bryan. Fire ants in our fields are about 6 to 8 feet apart and 8-10 inches tall. There is no way to fight them in open fields. There is to much money to be made by big chemical companies to put an end to these ants. It ain't going to happen.

Talstar P is pretty much same price with similar stopping power. Always follow your label, because you cannot spray mounds within certain distances of water sources like well heads, natural springs, etc.

Using that paper is silly. Ants can be seen by the camera. If you insist on using the paper, use it BEFORE spraying as well, to conclusively demonstrate the distinction you're attempting to show. Otherwise, good video.

My understanding is this method will kill many but will not get all the queens. The method I use us to lightly spray the mound and a good coat around the mound without disturbing it too much. They will drag the bifen back to the nest, eggs, and queens; therefore killing more efficiently. Disturbing the mound will cause them to simply pack up and move, which means more survivors.

The best products to kill ants out of your nasty texan bad breath ass is pepto bismol, milk of magnesium, alky seltzer or cod liver oil @ least a whole bottle before midnight.

You're INSANE! LIVE THOSE LITTLE CREATURES ALONE. THEY WON'T BOTHER UNLESS THEY'RE DISTURBED. ONE DAY, YOU MIGHT SET YOURSELF ON FIRE. THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO BELONG IN NATURE AS MUCH AS WE DO. You're jinking yourself.

Trust TexasPrepper2 regarding the use of Bifen IT for fire ant infestation!
We are sooooo glad we found this video last year and followed his advice.
Just to add to the testimonials posted here; I watched this video early last summer and then finally found some Bifen IT at one of our local Agri Supply stores in central North Carolina. I mixed it up as directed and sprayed as shown in the video.

It worked very well and devastated small mounds up to about 10" / 12" in diameter but not as well on larger mounds, as was documented in the video. For bigger mounds, I had to use a long sharp, pointed metal rod stabbed into the mound and rotated the "rod" as so to "open up" the top of the mound and only then did I spray as in the video and I soaked a small area around the mound too.

Helpful hint - When searching out and treating for fire ants, I always wear calf high "white rubber boots" for 3 reasons. ( I just sprayed them with white paint )
1. The ants swarm ferociously and the rubber boots prevent them from getting past regular shoes, socks, regular boots, etc., when you step on an unseen nest.
2. The "white boots" allow me to immediately see the little corksoakers more easily and faster too.
3. Before starting, I spray the boots with the Bifen IT spray and they DO NOT like that at all! No more getting bit while trying to kill them.

Bifen IT has worked real good for us so far and the mounds are never repopulated nor do they just pop up nearby a bit later.
Yes, there are some newer, smaller mounds this year, but they are much farther away from last year's treated areas. There are no new mounds anywhere to be found where I eliminated the ants last summer.
Spray, as directed, with Bifen IT and put an end to your fire ant problems!
It worked for us.

I hate these mo-fo's beyond words. Got introduced to them when I was in the Navy doing base-duty landscaping and was following someone with a weed-eater who hit a mound and they got all over me. Only way to save my butt was to dive into the O-club swimming pool and strip my clothes (to the delight\chagrin of all the wives sitting around the pool :-) ).

I can tell you these bastards hurt BAD - thank god I am not allergic or I wouldn't be here hitting subscribe!

Just watching you do the follow up gave me the heebie-jeebies.

The FMC Corporation (inventors of Bifenthrin) should give you a promotional consideration, either in chemical or money, because that was the best anti-fire ant commercial I've ever seen!
I usually use boric acid + sugar + water to kill them, but this looks a lot more effective!
